This is an unheated and untreated Star Sapphire round oval cabochon with a natural floating star complete with six long rays that weighs 3.04 carats and that measures 9.1 x 8.0 x 4.0 mm.. Medium in brightness and sharpness plus is nicely centered, this natural star is not diffused but instead occurs naturally by the alignment of Rutile inclusions. This gem originates in the Mogok area of Burma. The color is a light bluish gray. This is a translucent gem with heavy inclusions, hairline fissures, surface flaws including a natural depression that was not polished out, all secondary to the dominating appearance of the moving star phenomenon. A hardness of 9 on Moh’s scale, suitable for all types of jewelry. Sapphire is the birthstone of September.
