Design:
Here is a truly classic design in a well dressed ladies gemstone pendant. This is crafted in style # 479 of our online design selection catalog. The feature gem is prong set into the pocket of the main frame, a secure mount that leaves most of the gem on display. A halo of prong set accent gems, each in its own tube basket, surround the feature. A foundation is formed by the array of wire that connects it all together. This simplistic yet well thought out design forms spaces to allow light entrance into all the gems. The back is open to allow additional light entrance. The bail allows the pendant to dangle and is also adorned with stylish shaping. This pendant style has become a classic because it shows the gems at near maximum level with a minimal show and low usage of the metal, an efficient choice for gold as the style shows nearly all gemstone in appearance.
Specifics:
The beautiful blue gem is a Larimar, an pear shaped cabochon of a silicate mineral found only in the Dominican Republic. This gem is an untreated Caribbean gemstone that is a combination of sky blue and ocean blue color. It measures about 18.7 x 12.8 x 7.3 mm.
The accents are Burmese Rhodolite Garnets faceted 3 mm round cuts. They have VS eye clean clarity. Garnet is the birthstone for January.
The entire piece measures 37.5 mm in length and will accommodate up to 4.5 mm diameter size chains.
We started this project by melting down fine silver and pure copper to create an ingot of 93% silver alloy. Consequently our alloys are a little on the rich side of .925 Sterling. Copper alone is the remaining 7%. We do not add base metal in our alloy so there is less chance for any allergic reaction.
