This natural crystal shape is a Ruby from Madagascar. The trigonal crystal habit of Corundum creates hexagonal shaped crystals in natural Ruby. This gem is simply a slice of such a crystal, the natural shape has been preserved. I sawed this slice off of a translucent crystal that had been heated with leaded glass to enhance the clarity. This type of gem should not be exposed to harsh chemicals or high heat such as flames. The bail is accented with a natural clear and sparkling 2.5 mm faceted round natural Sapphire from Ceylon that has been heated only. The entire piece measures 36 mm in length and will accommodate your chain up to 3.5 mm diameter.
This handsome and well built pendant weighs about 6.8 grams.
